Ikpeazu Throws Weight Behind Abia Warriors

March 11, 2015 – Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State,  Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, has called on Abia Warriors’ fans to enter Umuahia Township Stadium free at his expense during the club’s first home match of the season.

In a statement, Dr. Ikpeazu said he decided to embark on the gesture as a way of appreciating the peoples support to him as he gets ready to take over from Chief T.A. Orji as the Abia State helmsman.

The PDP candidate said he was satisfied with the performance of Abia Warriors in the Glo Nigeria Professional League and wants to appreciate the fans whom he noted, have stood solidly behind the team.

Dr. Ikpeazu promised that he would give sports the priority it deserves if elected, pointing out that the youth, who are the leaders of tomorrow need to be supported to realize their potentials.

He commended Governor T.A. Orji for placing Abia State in the sports map of Nigeria by sponsoring sportsmen and women in many sporting activities and pledged to continue from where he stopped if given the mandate to serve.

Reacting to the gesture, chairman, Abia Warriors Football Club, Chief Emeka Inyama commended the PDP Governorship candidate for his benevolence and called on the club’s supporters to take advantage by always trooping out en masse to cheer the Ochendo Babes to victory in all their matches.
