June 9, 2015 – Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the April 2015 election, Senator Ike Ekweremadu today emerged as Deputy Senate President.
He was Deputy Senate President in the last dispensation.
There were 75 people on in the Senate when the election took place. Ekweremadu polled 54 votes to defeat Senator Muhammed Ali Ndume who polled 50 votes.
One person abstained.
