June 20, 2015 – Top Hausa iconic musician, Dan Maraya Jos(Adamu Wayya) is dead. He died today after a brief illness. He was 69. He died at Maienmi Hospital, Jos, Plateau State at about 3:45pm.
Sources say he was laid to rest at the Old Zaria Cemetery opposite Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Stadium in Jos. Although the musician was not married, he was father to many whom he adopted. He is from Bukuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
He started his musical career at the age of seven and has at least 500 songs in his repertoire .
He was well travelled and has been to the UK, United States and many other nations for musical performance. His musical skill brought him closer to Nigeria’s presidents, past and present.
