October 15, 2014 – Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi has said that he spent nothing less than N I billion in containing Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Port Harcourt.
Amaechi who was Speaking during the formal declaration of former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja, Amaechi said that it is wrong for the Federal Government to claim credit for the containment of Ebola in Nigeria adding that the Federal Government only spend N200 million in Rivers State, adding that the money arrived only few weeks ago.
Amaechi who had been described as the caterpillar of Port Harcourt politics said he spent N1 billion in containing Ebola in the state capital.
He said the governors have resolved to support whoever emerges from the primaries which will be held by the All Progressive Congress(APC) adding that he is certain that APC will win in 2015.
According to him, PDP does not have Rivers, Kano and Lagos State and called on Nigerians to go out and use their voter cards.
