One of the leaders of the radical Islamic sect, Boko Haram has been arrested. He was arrested along Nigeria-Chad border during a routine patrol.
The terrorist who claims citizenship of Chad and Burkina-Faso was arrested with assorted arms, Director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade told newsmen on Friday.
He said the suspect is currently assisting the military on investigations. Olukolade said disclosing the name of the gang leader would mar investigations.
“Following an attack launched by the military on terrorists’ hideouts, more suspected terrorists have been apprehended as they were trying to escape into neighboring Cameroun through Taraba and Adamawa states.
“Some of the Boko Haram terrorists had come out of hiding when they could no longer bear the hunger in their make shift camps in the forest. Those arrested led our troops to other hideouts, where fierce fighting ensued,” he stated, adding that a similar encounter in Gombi, Adamawa state led to the death of other four terrorists.
