LONDON, UK – A man initially charged with preventing a lawful burial has now been slapped with murder and manslaughter charges after the body of a 74-year-old gran was discovered in a Tottenham home, police revealed.

Dominic Whitton, 41, of Reynardson Road, N17, appeared in court on Monday, October 6, where he faced the grim new charges in connection with the death of Pepita Sarikecili, also known as Pepita Garcia.

Police were first called to the address on Reynardson Road on Monday, January 13, last year, after receiving a concern for the welfare of a woman inside.

Officers were forced to smash their way into the property where they found the pensioner’s body.

A post-mortem examination horrifyingly concluded that her cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Cops believe Pepita may have tragically died the previous month before she was discovered.

Whitton was initially charged on January 22 with preventing a lawful burial and has been remanded in custody since.

The new, far more serious charges of murder and manslaughter were added when he appeared at Wood Green Crown Court.

Whitton entered a not guilty plea to all charges. He is due to appear again at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday, December 12.
