ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria –  An advocacy group known as   Equity Movement Turn-by-Turn, has condemed the  senators representing Anambra Central and Anambra South Senatorial districts  Uche Ekwunife and Ifeanyi Ubah and  other federal legislators, for  abandoning their legislative duties in the National Assembly in search of tickets for the November 6, 2021 Governorship election in Anambra State.

Our check revealed that apart from Ubah and Ekwunife, the House of Representatives members, Chris Azubogu representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency and Okwudili Ezenwankwo (Orumba North and South Federal Constituency) are notable figures in the governorship election in the state.

Our reporter also learned that the House of Assembly member representing  Nnewi North State Assembly, Nonso Smart Okafor is among those seeking the  ticket of  their parties .

Chairman  of the group ,Mr.  Gaius Eze who spoke to  newsmen in Awka, Anambra  state capital on Tuesday  expressed worry that the time spent by the serving law makers consulting stakeholders on their aspirations would have  been better been spent at the plenary session and committee sittings  of  House  making laws for the betterment of their  constituents.

According to him, almost all the legislators from the State have spent the last few months in the state seeking for the support of the members of their parties  to the detriment of expectations of effective representations.

Ezeh said  the serving law makers who are eyeing the Agu Awka Government House seat  come 2022 should drop their ambition and focus on their present legislative assignments.

The Equity Turn-by-Turn leader in the state warned that the group would be more interested in supporting those who are not serving in the legislative chamber  as long as they are from Anambra South Senatorial district, the zone.

He said the south is the right zone to produce  the next governor of the state  after Willie Obiano’s turn in 2022. Eze disclosed further that there was no going back on the application of the rotational arrangement in the build up to the 2021 Governorship election in the state.

He noted that the  shift principle, though not in the constitution, has received massive support of the apex  socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Anambra State Traditional rulers,   community and religious leaders, among others in the state. According to him,  those who oppose rotational arrangement do so for selfish reason, stressing that its application is in the best interest of equity, justice and fairness.
