ABUJA, Nigeria – The present voter register on display in the 774 local governments across the federation and on the internet for verification and objections by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has showed that in the ward of Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State and those of his commissioners have more Hausa, Yoruba names than Igbo names.

Recall that Imo State is an Igboland and has 99 percent Igbo as residents but not so in  the wards of Imo State Governor and those of his commissioners, so says, Spokesperson of the Coalition of Political parties, CUPP,  Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere.

Ugochinyere who was speaking at a well televised press conference on Monday said the anomalies were among the latest discoveries he tagged “Omuowa Plus” after over 40, 000 fakes names were discovered in the INEC  register in the ward before this development.

The CUPP  spokesman who commended INEC  for its transparency so far  recommended such transparency to the National Population Commission when it is time to have a national census. He however alleged that there are plans by the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC  to  remove the INEC chairman, stressing that the CUPP  will resist the move.

He also called on the security agencies to arrest and prosecute those who were used by politicians to perpetrate the fraud in Imo State to serve as a deterrent.

He lamented that politicians are always looking for ways to rig the 2023 general elections despite efforts to make the election free and fair by INEC.

He also called on the electorates to be vigilant during the 2023 general elections and ensure that their votes count adding that previous elections were rigged between 12 and 1 pm when most electorates would have left the scene, paving way for politicians to mobilise thugs for snatching of ballot boxes and BIVAs  for manipulation of results.
