LONDON, England – Protests by black rights activists have intensified across the world, moving from one city to another as many come out with placards bearing inscriptions such as #BlackLivesMatter and#ICan’tBreath all in honour of George Floyd, who was murdered in Minneapolis, United States.
They made their marks in London, Dublin, allover with many risking their lives to air their voices, condemning the brutal murder of George Floyd by officer Derek Chauvin of the Minneapolis Police Department. George Floyd died under his knees in broad day light.
President of the United States, Donald Trump who was initially defiant and feeling unconcerned since it was black life that was involved has been forced to call for justice for George Floyd in the face of his plummeting public rating against Joe Biden, Presidential candidate of the Democratic Party across America, even in his strongholds, dominated by white supremacists.
However, against the wish of George Floyd’s family who have called for sustenance of the protest but without violence, things seems to have gone out of hands in many places.

Speaking on the protest in London, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service, Cressida Dick, said:
“I am deeply saddened and depressed that a minority of protesters became violent towards officers in central London yesterday evening. This led to 14 officers being injured, in addition to 13 hurt in earlier protests this week. We have made a number of arrests and justice will follow”, she said, adding that the number of assaults is shocking and completely unacceptable.
“I know many who were seeking to make their voices heard will be as appalled as I am by those scenes. There is no place for violence in our city. Officers displayed extreme patience and professionalism throughout a long and difficult day, and I thank them for that.
“I would urge protesters to please find another way to make your views heard which does not involve coming out on the streets of London, risking yourself, your families and officers as we continue to face this deadly virus”, she said.
