KANO, Nigeria – The Kano State Governor, Umaru Abdullahi Ganduje has named Emir of Bichi, Aminu Ado Bayero as the new Emir of Kano State.

Ado Bayero replaced Muhammad Sanusi II who was deposed earlier today by the Kano State Government.

Announcing the new Emir of Kano, Secretary to the Kano State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji said the new appointment was in consonant with section 11 subsection 1 of deposition laws of 1999 as amended which empowers Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to do so.

According to him, the final choice of Aminu Ado Bayero as Emir of Kano was based on the recommendation of Kano Kingmakers who had earlier submitted a list of potential replacement of former Emir Sanusi II.

The Kano State government explained that Sanusi II was dethroned because of his disrespect of lawful instructions from Gov Ganduje and other lawful authorities, and breach of Kano Emirate law 2019.

Born 1961, Aminu Ado Bayero is the 15th Emir of Kano. He was educated at the Kofar Kudu Primary School and Government Secondary School, Birnin Kudu.

Aminu Ado Bayero worked with Kabo Air as Public Relations Officer and later as a flight engineer. He was appointed Dan Majen Kano in 1992 and District Head of Dala by his father Ayo Bayero and was later promoted as Dan Buram Kano.

In 1992, he became Turakin Kano and Sarkin Dawakin Tsakar Gida Kano in 2000. He was promoted as Wamban Kano by former emir, Muhammad Sanusi II in 2014 and in 2019 he was appointed Emir of Bichi by Governor Abdullahi Ganduji of Kano State before his recent elevation to Emir of Kano Emirate.
