WASHINGTON, U.S – President Donald Trump of the United States has announced that he is pulling out of the Iran nuclear and that he will soon impose the highest level of economic sanctions on Iran, adding that any nation that assits Iran in its quest for nuclear weapons will be strongly sanctioned.
“In a few moments, I will sign a presidential memorandum to begin reinstating US nuclear sanctions on the Iranian regime. We will be instituting the highest level of economic sanction,” Trump said.
“Any nation that helps Iran in its quest for nuclear weapons could also be strongly sanctioned by the United States. America will not be held hostage to nuclear blackmail”, he said. Trump made the annoucement just as French President Emmanuel Macron said that France, Germany, and the UK regret the U.S. decision to leave the JCPOA.
“The nuclear non-proliferation regime is at stake. We will work collectively on a broader framework, covering nuclear activity, the post-2025 period, ballistic activity, and stability in the Middle-East, notably Syria, Yemen, and Iraq.”, Macron said.
Trump described the deal as disastrous at a point when the US has maximum leverage.
“This disastrous deal gave this regime — and it’s a regime of great terror — many billions of dollars, some of it in actually cash, a great embarrassment to me as a citizen”, he said, adding that the so-called Iran deal was supposed to protect the United States and allies from the lunacy of an Iranian nuclear bomb, a weapon that will only endanger the survival of the Iranian regime.
“In fact, the deal allowed Iran to continue enriching uranium and over time reach the brink of a nuclear blackout. Today, we have definitive proof that this Iranian promise was a lie,” Trump said.
What is the Iran deal about?
In exchange for non-nuclear activities, Iran would get relief from sanctions while continuing its atomic program for peaceful purposes.
