ZIMBABWE – Former Vice President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has turned down invitation for talks by embattled President of Zimbabwe, Mr. Robert Mugabe.




The former VP reacted based on invitation to come to the State House for discussion. He confirmed that Mugabe had called him to return for talks but that he told him he is unable to return since he currently had no status in Zimbabwe but that he can only return at the invitation of his colleagues in ZANU PF and the defence forces on assurance of his security.

He said he left the country because his life was at stake.

Emmerson Mnangagwa warned Robert Mugabe to cooperate with the currently negotiation for peaceful resolution to current impasse, warning that if he continues to remain adamant he will be humiliated since the will of the people will prevail.

He also confirmed that he knows that the Zimbabwe Parliament is in the process of impeaching him and that they have a right to do so.

“I will not stand in the way of the people and my party. I will go along with the wishes of my party and the general population”, he said, stressing that the destiny of Zimbabwe is in the hands of the people and that Mugabe must heed the call of the people to resign and rest for the reminder of his life.
