Molineux Mayhem for New Boss Edwards as Palace Pounce with Deadly Double
By SCM Sports Writer
CRYSTAL PALACE dumped poor Wolves into even deeper relegation trouble yesterday as second-half strikes from Daniel Munos and wonderkid Yeremy Pino sealed a comfortable 2-0 win.
The Eagles’ deadly six-minute double put a major dampener on new Wolves boss Rob Edwards’ first game in the Molineux hotseat, with his struggling side still WINLESS and rooted to the bottom of the Premier League pile.
Oliver Glasner’s men, meanwhile, are absolutely FLYING, with the three points from Munos’ 63rd-minute opener and Pino’s 69th-minute screamer pushing them into the Champions League spots!
The first half was a bit of a snoozefest, though Palace should have been ahead. Winger Pino was a constant menace and laid on a sitter for Jean-Philippe Mateta, who somehow shot wide.
But the Eagles came out roaring after the break, and the pressure finally told just past the hour mark.
A wicked shot from Adam Wharton was blocked, but the ball fell perfectly for full-back Munos, who kept his cool to lash it home and silence the home crowd.
Then came the killer blow. Just six minutes later, the brilliant Pino picked up the ball outside the box, took a touch, and bent an absolute beauty past Sam Johnstone that clipped the underside of the bar on its way in. GOAL OF THE MONTH contender, no doubt!
The strike was the Spaniard’s first Premier League goal, and it’s one he won’t forget.
Wolves had no answer to the stunning salvo and must now be fearing the drop after another dreadful performance.
