A TEENAGER has been arrested after a stomach-churning video emerged showing him setting an elderly woman’s hair on fire while she sat on a bus.
The 13-year-old boy was filmed in the sick act as he stood in the aisle of a public bus in Netanya, Israel.
Footage of the horror attack shows the youngster discreetly reaching out with a lighter toward the unsuspecting pensioner’s head.
Within seconds, the woman’s hair erupts into a ball of flame.
In a twisted attempt to cover his tracks, the boy then appears to act surprised, pointing at the blaze as if he had only just noticed it.
Thankfully, a quick-thinking hero passenger spotted the fire and rushed to the woman’s aid, helping to beat out the flames before they could cause life-changing injuries.
Local authorities confirmed the woman was treated for minor injuries, but has been left shaken by the random act of cruelty.
Israeli police tracked down the teen shortly after the footage—originally shared by Yeshiva World News—went viral.
He was hauled before a judge at a remand hearing on Wednesday, where he was ordered to be held in custody for at least three more days as investigations continue.
A police spokesperson confirmed:
”Officers nabbed the teen shortly after he was caught in the act on video. This was a dangerous and reckless act that could have ended in tragedy.”
The incident has sparked fresh outrage over youth violence in the city, coming just months after another 13-year-old was charged with a separate violent assault on a local driver.
