April 8, 2015 – The Federal Government has shut down the nation’s border less than 72 hours to the governorship and House of Assembly elections scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2015.
A statement from the Ministry for Interior noted that the closure will be effective by Thursday midnight and will last till Sunday.
The statement added that the closure is to prevent foreigners from taking part in the elections. Governors who run affairs in all the 36 states will be elected across the federation on April 11. Also to be elected are lawmakers to the state houses of assembly.
