WASHINGTON – Director Federal Bureau of Investigation(FBI),Mr.  Christopher Wray has named Michael A. Brodack as the special agent in charge of the Criminal Division of the New York Field Office.

Michael Brodack most recently served as the FBI senior liaison to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) at FBI and CISA Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Brodack began his career as an FBI special agent in 2002 and was assigned to the FBI New York Field Office to work counterterrorism matters.

He was part of the team that investigated al Qaeda and its affiliates with connections to Africa, including the 1998 bombings of the U.S. Embassies in Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

In 2012, Michael Brodack was promoted to supervisor of a new cyber counterterrorism squad in New York that focused on the online homegrown violent extremism threat. He was later promoted to coordinating supervisory special agent for New York’s extraterritorial and international counterterrorism programs.

He transferred to FBI Headquarters in 2014 to work as an assistant inspector in the Inspection Division.

Mr. Brodack was appointed in 2015 to assistant special agent in charge in the Newark Field Office in New Jersey, where he was in charge of white-collar crime, public corruption, civil rights, and cyber intrusion programs.

He returned to FBI Headquarters in 2019 to serve as the Cyber Division chief liaison to CISA, where he increased communication and improved collaboration between CISA and the FBI. CISA is an agency of the Department of Homeland Security.

Prior to joining the FBI, Mr. Brodack worked in the financial services sector as a certified public accountant and as an attorney. He graduated from the State University of New York at Albany and earned his law degree from the University of Miami School of Law.

He also holds many cyber security certifications, including the Certified Information Systems Security Professional certification. He received the Attorney General’s Distinguished Service Award in 2011 and in 2012 for his international counterterrorism work.
