September 25, 2015 – Former Presidential aspirant, Chief Olufalaye who was kidnapped by earlier in the week has been set free by his abductors.
We gathered that the 77 year old man who was kidnapped on Monday, September 21, his birthday was released by the abductors Thursday afternoon. He was born September 21, 1938.
The kidnappers had demanded N100 million as ransom after whisking him away from his farm in Ondo State.
The kidnappers were said to have dropped the ransom to N90 million when the family failed to meet up with the demands.
It is not clear if any ransom was paid by his family to secure his release. But Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase who escorted Falaye to his home in Ondo State told reporters that no ransom was paid.
Police swung into action following an order by President Muhammed Buhari that the IGP should rescue the former minister.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere had called for immediate release of the former Minister of Finance.
In a statement, Spokesman for the group, Mr. Yinka Odumakin urged northern leaders to ask the Fulani herdsmen to release him since he has been engaged in a running battle with Fulani herdsmen in his farm.
