    ENUGU, Nigeria – Ex-Editor of The Diet Newspaper, Mr. Sheddy Ozoene at the weekend emerged Chairman of the Ndi Local Government Area in Enugu State.




    He was among the 17 who defeated candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 17 Local Governments in the state.

    Writing on the election, Sheddy Ozoene who was also Chief Press Secretary to former Governor of Delta State, Mr. James Onanefe Ibori said it was not easy winning in the election, especially with the presence of APC heavyweights in the election.

    “We all fought a good fight in the past month, pounding all corners of Enugu state to solicit votes. Last Saturday was the judgment day and Ndi Enugu did not disappoint; they trooped out in their numbers to make their electoral choices in what has become one of the best LG elections conducted by a state government in Nigeria, in recent times.

    “As predicted, the PDP finally prevailed against APC in the keen contest, winning all 17 Local Government chairmanship seats and 258 Councillorship seats so far declared.

    “In Udi which I have the privilege to lead as Local Government Chairman, the victory was even more resounding in the light of several Abuja APC ‘heavyweights’ in the area”, he said and congratulated all stakeholders for their of show of support for the party of the people.

    “For sure we’ll do it again some other day”, he said.
