January 05, 2015 – Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Olisa Metuh has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Metuh is the spokesman of the main opposition in Nigeria.
Special Assistant to Metuh, Mr. Richard Ihediwa said in a statement that officials of the agency stormed residents of Metuh on Monday and whisked the PDP publicity secretary away.
He said the officials who did not disclose reason for the arrest only said Metuh who has been the voice of opposition in Nigeria has an issue to clear with the EFCC.
Metuh’s arrest came just a day after Ihediwa issued a statement condemning threat to arrest Metuh, on the pages of newspapers, noting that only in a period of tyranny are people investigated on the pages of the newspapers as a prelude for abuse and violation of their freedom and rights under the law.
