    Doctors at UNILORIN separates another set of conjoined twin

    ILORIN, Kwara, Nigeria – A team of doctors from the Department of Medical Sciences, University of Ilorin, UNIILORIN  have carried out another successful operation  on conjoined twin.

    The twin were joined at the abdomen but the team of sojourns succeeded in carrying out the operation after a rigorous exercise. The operation took place at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin, Kwara State

    One of the  surgeon here displays the photographs of the babies  looking good and well after the operation.

    This is not the first time UNILORIN will be undertaking such a complex operation on conjoined twins.

    In January 2021, a multidisciplinary medical team from the faculty of Basic Medical Sciences and  of the College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin successfully separated  a set of conjoined twins.

    It was the second successful exercise after the first one carried out about 16 years back.

    The twin in the case of 2021 were delivered through emergency caesarean section, following a prolong labour  at the General Hospital, New Busa, Niger State by a 25 year old woman, Mrs. Tawakalitu  Ahmed.

    The babies were joined at the chest and abdomen. They were separated when they were 127 days old.
