PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle have touched down in Jordan for their latest “royal-style” tour, kicking off a two-day “humanitarian” blitz while the real Royal Family reels back in London.
The Duke and Duchess of Netflix landed in the Middle Eastern kingdom on Wednesday morning for an all-expenses-paid trip at the invitation of World Health Organization (WHO) chief Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
Critics have blasted the move as “performative humanitarianism,” as the couple—who ditched the UK for a “private” life in California—continue to rack up air miles while posing for carefully staged photo-ops with displaced children and global officials.
Smiles for the Cameras
The Sussexes wasted no time in getting to work—or at least, getting the shots. Their first stop was a high-level roundtable with WHO officials in Amman, where Meghan, 44, looked every bit the Hollywood-humanitarian in a “quiet luxury” white ensemble.
Later, the couple headed to the Za’atari refugee camp. Harry, 41, and Meghan were pictured beaming as they joined displaced Syrian children for a painting session and a kickabout on the soccer pitch.
While the couple’s Archewell Foundation recently touted a $500,000 donation toward medical evacuations from Gaza, many royal watchers are questioning the timing of the “pseudo-royal” visit.
Royal Rivalry?
The trip comes at a sensitive time for the monarchy. As Harry and Meghan enjoy the hospitality of the Jordanian leadership, the Royal Family in Britain is navigating a crisis following the recent arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
While the “working royals” focus on duty at home, the Sussexes appear determined to maintain their own rival “global court.”
”They always have to announce ‘something’ when the UK royals are in the news,” one social media user noted.
The Globe-Trotting Sussexes
This Jordan jaunt is just the latest stop on the Sussexes’ world tour of good intentions. Since 2024, they have carried out high-profile visits to Nigeria and Colombia, leading to accusations that they are attempting to act as “alternative royals” without any of the constitutional responsibility.
The couple is expected to meet with Jordanian leaders and staff from World Central Kitchen tomorrow before flying back to their £11m Montecito mansion.
The “Sussex Summer” of Tours
Nigeria (May 2024): The couple visited West Africa to promote the Invictus Games, treated to state-level security and traditional ceremonies.
Colombia (August 2024): A four-day “impact trip” focused on digital safety and female empowerment, funded by the Colombian government.
Jordan (February 2026): Their latest trip, highlighting the refugee crisis and Gaza humanitarian aid in partnership with the WHO.
