August 8, 2014 – The Nigerian Defence Headquarters has warned politicians who have prepared uniforms that would enable them to impersonate Nigerian troops deployed to monitor the August 9 Governorship election in Osun, to desist, stressing that the military has mapped out strategy that would lead to their arrest.
Making the revelation on its official tweeter page, the military said, all suspicious dressing or impersonation of our troops will be dealt with. “There is no cause for alarm, the election will be hitch-free”, it said.
“Any attempt to impersonate or fake troops assigned for security duties in support of Osun election will be detected and apprehended.
In another tweet, the military said tight identity codes are in place to mark those on duty, during the exercise adding that commanders on ground will enforce this.
