IKORODU, Lagos – The grieving father of Nigerian music star Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known to millions as Mohbad, has launched an extraordinary demand for the immediate prosecution of his late son’s widow and the auxiliary nurse who administered a series of injections before the singer’s tragic death.
Joseph Oluwabamiwo Aloba has given the Lagos State Attorney General, Lawal Pedro (SAN), just 14 days to initiate criminal proceedings against Omowunmi Aloba, Mohbad’s wife, and Miss Ogedengbe Fisayo, the unqualified nurse.
The shocking demand follows a coroner’s inquest verdict on July 11, 2025, which, according to the father’s lawyers, indicted the two women of alleged complicity in the singer’s death.
The petition, filed by the father’s counsel, Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN), today, cites explosive excerpts from the Coroner’s Verdict which he claims points to “clear indictments” warranting prosecution.
The auxiliary nurse, Fisayo, was slammed for “unlawful medical practice and gross medical negligence.”
The inquest found that after observing swelling on Mohbad’s arm, she administered three injections in succession—including tetanus, paracetamol, and a broad-spectrum antibiotic—without conducting any formal diagnosis.
The Coroner expressly recommended that she be prosecuted. The verdict was equally critical of the singer’s widow, Omowunmi, citing her for “negligence.”
The Coroner stated that the decision to seek home treatment by an “uncertified auxiliary nurse” was negligent, especially given Mohbad’s status.
Furthermore, the inquest noted that Omowunmi, a direct eyewitness to the medical emergency, did not insist on calling emergency services or ensuring proper ambulance care.
Mr. Aloba, through his counsel, is also seeking the prosecution of Ibrahim Owodunni a.k.a. Prime Boy and “others in the apartment” at the time of the death who either facilitated the nurse’s invitation or “refuse[d] to take him properly recognized medical facility for treatment.”
His lawyer stated that the bereaved father is “deeply concerned” that no prosecutorial steps have been taken against the indicted persons since the verdict was delivered.
In a dramatic move, Dr. Shittu has warned the Attorney General that if he declines to prosecute within the 14-day deadline, he must grant a fiat allowing the father’s legal team to pursue the matter on behalf of the State.
The lawyer stressed that his client is determined to ensure that “justice is done and seen to be done” in a case that has generated immense public attention and “outrage.”
