ABUJA, Nigeria – The Council of State has expressed support for the Naira redesign carried out by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN with the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Council also appraised the situation and economic hardship current scarcity of the new Naira has caused Nigerians, following long queues in the premises of banks across the federation.

To cushion the effect, the council called on the CBN  to print more Naira notes  and circulate  or circulate older notes along the new Naira to make it easy for Nigerians.

The Council of State comprises the President (Chair); Vice President (Deputy Chair); all former Presidents & former Heads of Govt; all former Chief Justices; President of the Senate; Speaker, House of Representatives; all State Governors; and Attorney-General of the Federation.
