    Coronavirus: Nigeria records 196 new cases as 227, 368 die globally

    LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) on Wednesday confirmed 196 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 1, 728.

    Out of the 196 new cases, 87 were discovered in Lagos, 24 in Kano, 18 in Gombe, 17 in Kaduna, 16 in Abuja, 10 in Katsina, 8 in Sokoto, 7 in Edo, 6 in Borno, 1 in Yobe, 1 in Ebonyi and 1 in Adamawa State, making 196 new cases.

    According to the NCDC, out of the 1728 confirmed cases in Nigeria, 307 patients have recovered and have been discharged while 51 patients have died.

    “@NCDCgov 196 new cases of #COVID19 reported; 87-Lagos, 24-Kano, 18-Gombe, 17-Kaduna, 16-FCT, 10-Katsina, 8-Sokoto, 7-Edo, 6 in Borno, 1-Yobe, 1-Ebonyi and 1-Adamawa. As at 11:55pm 29th April- 1728 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Discharged: 307 Deaths: 51”, the NCDC has said.

    Meanwhile, there are currently, 3, 190, 743 deaths worldwide, while 227, 368 patients have died of Coronavirus based on statistics release by the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.

    According to the centre, the United States still leads the pack of states with the highest number of infections and deaths. The United States currently has 1,038, 451 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 60,876 deaths.
