    Coronavirus in Nigeria hits 5162, China 136, see top 5 affected nations

    LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) on Thursday confirmed 193 new cases of Coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 5162.

    Out of the 5162 cases, 1180 patients have recovered and subsequently discharged while 167 patients have passed on.

    However, a breakdown of the 193 new cases shows that 58 were found in Lagos, 46 in Kano, 35 in Jigawa, 12 in Yobe, 9 in Abuja, 7 in Ogun, 5 in Plateau, 5 in Gombe, 4 in Imo, 3 in Edo, 3 in Kwara, 3 in Borno, 1 in Nasarawa and 1 in Ondo State.

    “NCDC@NCDCgov193 new cases of #COVID19; 58-Lagos 46-Kano 35-Jigawa 12-Yobe 9-FCT 7-Ogun 5-Plateau 5-Gombe 4-Imo 3-Edo 3-Kwara 3-Borno 1-Bauchi 1-Nasarawa 1-Ondo 5162 cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria Discharged: 1180 Deaths: 167”, the NCDC has reported.

    Globally there are currently 4, 426, 937 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, while 301, 370 patients are dead based on statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland.

    According to the centre, the United States still tops the ranks of most affected nations in terms of population affected and the total number of deaths.

    The United States currently has 1, 413, 012 confirmed cases while 85, 581 patients are dead. Next is Russia, which has reported 252, 245 confirmed cases while 2, 305 patients have passed on.

    The United Kingdom is next, with 234, 432 confirmed cases, while 33, 693 patients are dead, followed by Spain with 229, 540 confirmed cases of COVID-19, while 27, 321 patients passed on.

    Following Spain among the most afflicted is Italy, which has reported 223,096 confirmed cases of the pandemic, while 31, 368 patients could not make it.

    China, where the Coronavirus pandemic started has been pushed to the 11th position among most affected nations. China has 84,025 confirmed cases of the pandemic, 4, 637 deaths, while 79, 252 patients have recovered and subsequently discharged, leaving China with just 136 cases of the Coronavirus to deal with.
