    LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 304 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, making a total of 43,841 confirmed cases in the country.

    Out of the 43, 841cases, 20,308 patients have been discharged while 888 others have passed on, leaving Nigeria with 22, 645 active cases of the virus.

    Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, Lagos-81, Abuja-39, Abia-31,Kaduna-24, Rivers-23, Plateau-16, Cross River-13; Ebonyi-12, Ondo-12, Ekiti-11, Edo-11, Benue-10, Nasarawa-10, Ogun-6, Gombe-5,making a total of 304 new cases of the pandemic in Nigeria.

    “NCDC@NCDCgov304 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria;Lagos-81, FCT-39, Abia-31,Kaduna-24, Rivers-23, Plateau-16, Cross River-13; Ebonyi-12, Ondo-12, Ekiti-11, Edo-11, Benue-10, Nasarawa-10, Ogun-6, Gombe-5; 43,841 confirmed; 20,308 discharged; 888 deaths”, the NCDC said in a statement.

    There are now 17, 953, 597 confirmed cases globally, 686, 947 deaths, while 10, 621,766 others have recovered, the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland has said.

    According to the centre, the United States still leads in the league of most affected countries, reporting 4, 657, 693 confirmed cases, 154, 793 deaths, while 1, 461, 885  others have recovered, leaving the U.S with 3,041, 015 active cases(49, 487 cases in the 24 hours), followed by Brazil, which has documented 2, 707, 877 confirmed cases, 93, 563 deaths,  while 2,062, 876 others have recovered, leaving Brazil with 551, 438 active cases of the pandemic(45, 392 cases in 24 hours).

    India, now in the third spot in the ranks of most affected countries has reported 1, 750, 723 confirmed cases, 37, 364 deaths, while 1, 145, 629 others have been discharged. India is now left with 567, 730 active cases of the pandemic(54,735 cases in the last 24 hours), followed by Russia with 849, 277 confirmed cases, 14,104 deaths, while 648, 961 others have recovered, leaving Russia with 186, 212 active cases of the pandemic, followed by South Africa, which has documented 511, 485 confirmed cases, 8, 366 deaths, while 347, 227 others have recovered, leaving South Africa with 155, 892 active cases(8,195 cases in the last 24 hours).

    Mexico has reported 434, 193 confirmed cases, 47, 472 deaths while 334, 867 patients have recovered, leaving Mexico with 51, 854 active cases of the pandemic, followed by  Peru with 420, 957 confirmed cases, 19, 408 deaths, while 294, 187 others have recovered, leaving Peru with 107, 362 active cases.

    Chile is next with 359, 731 cases, 9,608 deaths, while 332, 411 others have recovered, leaving Chile with 17, 712 active cases of the pandemic, followed by Iran with 309, 437 confirmed cases, 17, 190 deaths, while 268, 102 others have recovered, leaving Iran with 24, 145 actives cases, followed by the United Kingdom in the 10th spot.

    The U.K currently has 306, 315 confirmed cases, 46, 286 deaths, while only 1, 442 patients have recovered, leaving he U.K with 258, 587 active cases of the pandemic (743 new cases, 8 deaths in the last 24 hours).

    These statistics tend to project the U.K as the worst in the management of the pandemic in Europe – The U.K currently has the worst death rate and worst rate of recovery in Europe.

    Colombia is next with 306, 181 confirmed cases,  10, 330 deaths, while 160, 708 others have been discharged, leaving Colombia with 135, 143 active cases, followed by Spain, which has documented 288, 522 confirmed cases, 28, 445 deaths, while 150, 376 others have recovered. Spain is left with 109, 709 active cases(no new case) and then Italy (15) in the rank. Italy has documented 248,070 cases, 35, 154 deaths while 200, 460 others have been discharged, leaving Italy with 12, 456 active cases(238 cases in the 24 hours).

     China, 28 in the league of most affected countries has reported 87,942 confirmed cases, 4,668 deaths, while 81,008 patients have recovered. China is left with 2, 266 cases, up by 45 new cases in the last 24 hours.
