    LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 298 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing the total number to 49, 068 cases.

    But out of the 49,068 confirmed cases, 36,497 sick patients have been discharged, while 975 others could not make it alive, leaving Nigeria with 11, 596 active cases.

    Breakdown of the 298 cases is as follows, Plateau-108,Kaduna-49, Lagos-47, Ogun-18, Osun-17, FCT-15, Ondo-14, Edo-8, Oyo-6, Akwa Ibom-4, Cross River-4, Borno-3, Ekiti-2, Bauchi-1, Kano-1 and  Rivers-1.

    On the global scene,  21, 582, 345  cases have been confirmed since the onset of the pandemic,  773, 469 deaths, while 13, 590, 831 others have been discharged from the hospitals after a clean bill of health, the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland has reported.

    According to the Centre, the United States remains the most affected country globally, reporting  5, 400, 180 cases from the beginning of the pandemic, 169, 955 deaths, while 1, 833, 067 people who were infected have now been given clean bill of health, leaving the U.S with 3, 397, 158 people in the hospital(54, 570 new cases),  followed by Brazil with  3, 340, 197  cases accumulated over time, 107, 852 deaths, while 2, 655, 017 others have been declared okay by health authorities.

    Brazil is now left with 577, 328 cases in the various hospitals and isolation centres (64, 677 new cases), followed by India with 2, 589, 682 all time cases, 49, 980 deaths, while 1, 862, 258 others have recovered, leaving India with 677, 444 people undergoing treatment(63, 490 new cases).

    Russia is the 4th most affected country,  reporting  920, 719  all time cases,   15, 653 deaths,  while 731, 444 people who  were admitted in isolation centres have now been discharged. Russia is now left with 173, 622 patients in the hospitals(4, 911 new cases),  followed by South Africa with 587, 345 all time cases,  11, 839 accumulated deaths, while 472, 377 patients have been given clean bill of health, leaving South Africa with 103, 129  patients undergoing treatment(8,205 new cases), followed by  Peru(6th) with 525, 803  all time cases, 26, 075 accumulated deaths, while  365, 367 others have been declared healthy by health authorities, leaving Peru with 134, 361 sick people in the hospitals.

    Mexico is 7th in the league, reporting  517, 714 all time cases, 56, 543 deaths accumulated over time, while  418,164 patients have been discharged, leaving Mexico with 43, 007 sick people in hospitals and isolation centres, followed by Colombia with 456, 689 accumulated cases, 14, 810 deaths accumulated over time, while  247, 420 patients have been cleared and discharged, leaving Colombia  with 194, 459 sick persons in the hospitals, followed by  Chile(9th in the league)  with 385,946 cases accumulated since  the first cases was recorded, 10, 452 deaths over time,  while 358, 828  others have been given clean bill of health, leaving Chile with 16, 666 patients in the various treatment centres, followed by Iran, which has documented 343, 203 cases since inception of the pandemic,  19, 639 deaths over time, while 297, 486 people have been discharged, leaving Iran with 26,078 sick people in the hospitals.

    Spain is next in the 11th spot with 342, 813  cases since the outset of the pandemic, 28, 617 deaths accumulated over time, while 150, 376 patients have recovered, leaving Spain with 163, 820 patients in the hospitals,  followed by the United Kingdom, now 12th in the rank,  with 320, 343 cases over time, 46, 791 deaths  since the first cases was reported in the U.K, while only  1, 486 people have been given clean bill of health.

    In terms of recoveries, the U.K is now sitting between Sierra Leone and Tunisia, showing how bad the medical situation is in the U.K as far as this #COVID-19UK is concerned. There are currently 272,066 people still down with the Coronavirus, undergoing treatment that doesn’t seem to be very effected in the U.K(2, 150 new cases).

    Italy is in the 17th spot in the rank with 253, 915 cases over time,  35, 396 deaths since the first case was reported, while 203, 786 people have been declared fit by health authorities, leaving Italy with 14, 733 sick people in the hospitals(477 new cases), followed by France(18) with 252, 965 all time cases,  30, 410 accumulated deaths, while  83, 168 patients have been discharged, leaving France with 139, 387  sick people in the hospitals and isolation centres(3, 310 new cases) and then China, now  in the 32nd spot in the league of most affected countries.

    China has documented 89, 353 all time cases, 4, 703 deaths over time while  83, 168 people have been discharged, leaving China with 1, 482 active cases or 1, 482 patients still on treatment in China.
