    Coronavirus: 11, 474 active in Nigeria, surges in US and India, see cases in over 12 countries

    LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed 329 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, bringing the total number to 48, 445 cases.

    But out of the 48, 445 confirmations, 35,998 patients have been discharged, while 973 others have unfortunately passed on, leaving Nigeria with 11, 474 active cases of Coronavirus.

    Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, Lagos-113,  Kaduna-49,  FCT-33,  Plateau-24, Kano-16,  Edo-15,  Ogun-14, Delta-13, Osun-10, Oyo-8, Ekiti-6, Bayelsa-6, Akwa I, bom-5, Borno-4, Enugu-4, Ebonyi-3, Rivers-2, Bauchi-1, Nasarawa-1, Gombe-1 and Niger-, making a total of 329 cases of Coronavirus.

    “NCDC@NCDCgov 329 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria; Lagos-113,  Kaduna-49,  FCT-33,  Plateau-24, Kano-16,  Edo-15,  Ogun-14, Delta-13, Osun-10, Oyo-8, Ekiti-6, Bayelsa-6, Akwa I, bom-5,  Borno-4, Enugu-4, Ebonyi-3, Rivers-2, Bauchi-1, Nasarawa-1, Gombe-1 and Niger-1; 48,445 confirmed;35,998 discharged; 973 deaths”, NCDC said in a statement.

    Globally, there are currently 20, 038,816 confirmed cases, 761,983 deaths, while 13, 096, 934 others have recovered, the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland has said.

    According to the centre,  the United States remains the most affected worldwide, reporting  5, 298, 879 confirmations, 168, 207 deaths, while 1, 796, 309 patients have been discharged, leaving the US with 3, 334, 363 active cases(74, 641 new cases in 24 hours), followed by Brazil which has documented 3, 224, 876 confirmed cases, 105, 463 deaths,  while 2, 529, 245 patients have been able to recover, leaving Brazil with 700, 168 active cases of the virus(60,090 cases in the last 24 hours), followed by India in the third place. India has documented 2, 461,190 confirmed cases, 48,040 deaths, while 1, 751, 555 patients have been discharged, leaving India with 661, 595 active cases of the pandemic (64, 553 cases in the last 24 hours).

    Russia is next in the 4th place with  910, 778 confirmed cases, 15, 467 deaths, while 721, 473 patients have recovered, leaving Russia with 173, 838 active cases, followed by South Africa(SA) in the 5th spot in the league of most affected countries.

    SA has reported 579, 140 confirmed cases, 11, 556 deaths, while 461,734 patients have recovered, leaving SA with 105, 850 active cases of the virus(6, 275 cases in the last 24 hours), followed by Peru(6th) with 507, 996 confirmations, 25, 648 deaths, while 341, 938 people have been discharged, leaving Peru with 140, 410 active cases of Coronavirus, followed by Mexico(7th) with 505, 751 confirmations,  55, 293 deaths, while 406,583 patients are now okay, leaving Mexico with 43, 875 active cases of the pandemic.

    Colombia is next in the 8th spot with 433, 805 cases, 14, 145 deaths, while 250, 494 others  have become healthy, leaving Colombia with169, 166 active cases, followed by Chile(9th) with  382, 111 confirmed cases,  10, 340 deaths, while 355, 037 patients have been discharged. Chile is now left with 16, 734 active cases of the virus, followed by  Spain in the 10th spot in the rank of most afflicted countries.

    Spain has documented  342, 813 cases,  28, 617 deaths, while 150, 376 people have recovered, leaving Spain with 163, 820 active cases of the pandemic(5, 479 cases in the last 24 hours), followed by Iran(11)  with 338, 825 cases,  19, 331 deaths, while 293, 811 patients are now fine, leaving Iran with 25, 683 ongoing cases, followed by the United Kingdom(12) with  315, 604 confirmations, 46, 791 deaths,  while only 1, 479 people have been cured since the onset of the pandemic(21 new cases) and Italy(17), 252, 809 cases,  35, 234 deaths, while 203, 326 people are now okay, leaving Italy with 14, 249 active cases(574 new cases), followed by France(18) with 249, 611 confirmations, 30, 410 deaths, while 83,988 patients are now alright, leaving France with 135, 213 ongoing cases(4, 447 cases in the last 24 hours) and then China which has been pushed to the 32nd spot in the rank.

    China confirmed  89, 193 cases,  82, 901 recoveries, while 4, 700 patients are no more, leaving China with 1, 592 active cases of the pandemic.
