AMERICAN R&B superstar Chris Brown is facing the threat of time behind bars after pleading guilty to a brutal assault inside an exclusive Mayfair nightclub.
The 37-year-old singer and his pal Omololu Akinlolu, 40, admitted a charge of affray at Southwark Crown Court today following a lengthy investigation by Metropolitan Police detectives.
The court heard how a night out at an elite nightspot in London’s glamorous Hanover Square turned into a scene of utter carnage in the early hours of February 19, 2023.
Horrified onlookers watched as the victim was approached inside the venue at around 3:00 am before being subjected to a violent, unprovoked assault by the pair, who were known to him.
CCTV footage obtained by detectives captured the horrifying moment Brown smashed a glass bottle over the victim’s head multiple times.
As the bloody violence spilled across the club, Akinlolu rained down blows, punching the helpless victim in the back of the head.
The terror didn’t end there. The victim was then chased across the venue, shoved forcefully to the floor, and repeatedly kicked while lying helpless on the ground.
The battered victim was rushed to hospital, where medics treated him for serious head injuries and a damaged knee.
Met Police officers immediately launched an investigation to trace the culprits. However, both Brown—of California—and Akinlolu—of Florida—skipped the country and dodged justice for over two years.
Detectives repeatedly tried to interview the pair under caution, offering them multiple opportunities to voluntarily attend a police station. When the duo refused to co-operate, police officially circulated them as wanted men.
The fugitive pair’s luck finally ran out in May 2025 when border officials red-flagged Brown’s flight into the UK.
Met cops, working alongside local forces, swooped on Manchester Airport on May 15, arresting the Grammy-winning star in the early hours as he stepped off the plane. Akinlolu was nabbed in Manchester on the very same day.
Cops Blast ‘Disgraceful’ Violence
Speaking after today’s guilty pleas, Detective Constable Zara Ripamonti slammed the pair’s violent actions.
“This was a disgraceful, unprovoked assault that put a man in hospital,” DC Ripamonti said.
“There is no place for serious violence like this in London, and I’m pleased these men accepted what they did wasn’t just completely unacceptable—but criminal.
“This has been a long investigation and we’ve worked with police colleagues in the UK to bring these two men to justice.”
Both Brown and Akinlolu have been remanded to face the music later this year. They will return to Southwark Crown Court to be sentenced on Monday, October 26.
