LONDON – A MET Police sergeant based at the heart of London has been dramatically arrested and suspended from duty in a shock new scandal engulfing Charing Cross station.
The officer, a Sergeant attached to the Central West Basic Command Unit, was nicked on Thursday evening by the Met’s own corruption-busting unit, the Directorate of Professional Standards.
They were arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice—a charge that could spell the end of their career and land them in jail.
The bombshell arrest is reportedly linked to the horrific claims of misogyny, racism, and sexual harassment that rocked the force following a devastating BBC Panorama exposé.
A police insider confirmed the allegation relates to an incident that took place at the notorious Charing Cross Police Station on the very day of the arrest,
The shamed officer has since been bailed as the investigation continues. The force is facing fresh scrutiny over its failure to root out rotten apples
