BRAZIL – President Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), Ednaldo Rodrigues, has declared a seven day morning following the death of Mário Jorge Lobo Zagallo, who died at the age of 92.
Mario Zagallo won the world cup twice as a player and twice as coach of Brazil.
“The CBF and Brazilian football mourn the death of one of its greatest legends, Mário Jorge Lobo Zagallo.
The CBF offers solidarity to his family and fans in this moment of sadness at the departure of this idol of our football”, said the president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues.
“The CBF declares seven days of mourning in honor of the memory of its eternal champion and is committed to honoring his legacy. In 2022, we will inaugurate a statue in honor of the eternal champion at the CBF Museum and we will not forget the emotion we shared,” the confederation said in a statement .
“It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our eternal four-time world champion Mario Jorge Lobo Zagallo.
“A devoted father, loving grandfather, affectionate father-in-law, faithful friend, successful professional and a great human being. Giant idol. A patriot who leaves us a legacy of great achievements.
“We thank God for the time we were able to spend with you and we ask the Father that we find comfort in the good memories and the great example you leave us”, the CBF said.
