October 13, 2014 – Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola on Friday, October 10 shunned the grand finale of the 2014 Press Week put together by Lagos State Governor’s Office Correspondents(LAGOCO) where they presented a book entitled, Fashola: Portrait of A Genius in Service.

Our correspondent gathered that the book which about 120 pages is an account of the good things the Governor did in the past eight years with full colour production.

We reliably gathered that the correspondents who have covered the governor in the past eight years both in the rain and in the sun where short of shedding tears when it became clear to them that the governor would not make the event, not even an apology after an assurance from the governor’s Chief of Staff.

Speaking at the spectacular event in which fireworks heralded the unveiling of the book by former Governor of Lagos State, Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu (rtd), in company of other invited guests, Chairman of the Lagos State Governor’s Office.

Correspondent, Mr. Joshua Bassey said the book is an account of the eight year reign of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola.

He said the correspondent wrote the book as part of their contribution to the eight year tenure of the governor whom he said has done very well for Lagos State. He noted that the beautiful prose were complemented with colour photographs.
In his opening remarks, Chairman of the event, Ndubuisi Kanu commended the correspondent for documenting achievements of the governor.

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Remi Ibirogba thanked guest for honouring the invitation, while Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Alhaji Hakeem Bello described the book as a novelty, noting that it is the first time that correspondents anywhere in the country have documented activities of a governor in a book unlike elsewhere where correspondents are always at loggerhead with their governor.

The event was however full of fun as there was enough to eat, buffet, and souvenirs and music.
