May 8, 2015 – Bollywood Star, Salman Khan today got temporary reprieve following his conviction on Wednesday of culpable homicide.
A High Court in Mumbai, India Today suspended the five year sentence the actor got for killing Noor Ullah Khan.
The actor was alleged to have driven over Khan in 2002 while he was sleeping and on pavement and injured four other persons. The actor did not wait to attend to the victims.
The suspension of the sentence is based on appeal by Salman Khan few hours after the Wednesday sentence.
Khan argued during the trial that he was not the one driving when the incident occurred but that his driver was behind the wheel.
But the trial judge insisted that the actor was behind the wheel and that he drove under the influence of alcohol.
The trial comes up in July.
