    RAJASTHAN, India – Bollywood superstar, Salman Khan was today sentenced to five years imprisonment by an India court based in Jodhpur. Salman Khan was jailed for poaching very rare species of antelope in 1998, following a suit by the Bishnoi community.




    He will in addition pay fine of 10,000 rupees for shooting the animals. Khan killed the two blackbucks, a protected species while shooting one of his film in Rajasthan.

    Four other actors who starred with him in the movie and were also charged with the offence but they were acquitted. Khan, who is 52 can appeal the decision.

    Salman Khan had been convicted in two cases of poaching and sentenced to five years imprisonment. But the Rajasthan high court suspended the sentence the following year, and eventually acquitted him in 2016.
