April 25, 2015 – Members of the radical Islamic sect, Boko Haram on Thursday staged another audacious attacks in Nigeria’s border towns of Marte and Kirenowa,   forcing hundreds of soldiers to flee the towns,  a local official and eye witnesses  have said.

According to AFP, the terrorists, numbering over 2,000, stormed the town from various directions on Thursday and engaged the soldiers in Kirenowa town and adjoining communities in Marte,” said Imamu Habeeb, a local community leader .

“They fought with soldiers over the night and the fight continued today (Friday), forcing hundreds of soldiers to flee Maiduguri”, he said.

Local sources say members of the sect were armed with bombs and tanks.

“They used the weapons without restraint and succeeded in killing several people,” the village source said.

This is the first time the sect is launching such an audacious attack on a Nigeria community several months after they were bombarded by the Nigerian troops backed by forces from Cameroun and Chad forcing members of the sect to be on the run.

The sect has killed over 15,000 people in North-eastern Nigeria, killing and maiming, leaving many homeless.
