Tracking Down Kolade’s Family for assistance

    Admin l Monday, April 01, 2019

MONGORO, Lagos, Nigeria – Popular Nigerian musician, cum politician, Mr. Banky Wellington is disturbed by report of Mr. Kolade Johnson, the only son of a widow killed by operatives of the  Special Antirobbery Squad, SARS, on Sunday #ENDSARS.

Kola Johnson, was killed when SARS  raided the venue where  he was relaxing watching a football match between Liverpool vs Tottenharm at Mongoro, Agege, Lagos.  SARS we gathered shot sporadically into the air in attempt to disperse the crowd in other to arrest theirr suspect. Banky W said he is tired of  killings by SARS. He said Kolade’s  only crime was being in the wrong place at the wrong time… “watching a football match when SARS operatives who allegedly came to arrest someone, started shooting sporadically.

“Kolade is not the first innocent victim of reckless behaviour by SARS operatives, and he will almost certainly not be the last. It is sickening, frustrating, and unfair.  We are tired of hearing about victims of police brutality, but never hearing about the criminal, reckless police officers being brought to justice.

“We are tired of screaming and tweeting #ENDSARS while our innocent young people are being extorted, bullied, maimed and killed by the very same officers who are meant to protect them. And we are tired of our leaders remaining silent, incident after incident.

“We’re going to track down Kolade’s family, pray with them and raise money to assist them through this terrible tragedy. We hope that our leaders will use this opportunity to ACTUALLY show that they care about our lives and wellbeing, by tracking down the reckless officers responsible for this murder and bringing them to justice for their vicious crime”, he said.

He said, he and his team will not the police get away with this incident. “We will not let this go”, he said, adding that  Kolade was innocent and did not deserve to die and that Kolade could have been anyone of us. “Please show us that you care about us. Please”, he said.

Narrating the incident, a witness, who gave his name as Ayo, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that everything happened in a flash.

“F-SARS had come to arrest one of the boys of a major music producer who wears dreads; I and some others who were drinking at a bar saw what was happening and quickly explained to the policemen that he was not a Yahoo boy. They ignored our talks and kept dragging the boy to their vehicle, we all came out from the bar and kept explaining to the policemen that they were arresting a wrong person.

“In an attempt to disperse the crowd, a first shot was fired to the ground. Seeing this, I and the others quickly turned back to avoid trouble, but because Kunle was probably the last person in the crowd, he was shot point-blank from behind.

“He didn’t even know he was shot till we had trekked some few metres before we all saw he was bleeding, he died on his way to the hospital at Ikeja,” the witness said.
