    Baba Ijesha granted bail

    LAGOS, Nigeria – Nollywood actor,  Olanrewaju James better known as Baba Ijesha has been granted bail officially by the Lagos State Government.

    Chief Magistrate Oluwatoyin Oghre granted him bail in the sum of N700,000 with two  sureties in like sum. One of the sureties must be an officer not below Grade Level 10 in the Lagos State Civil Service,  while the second surety must be a blood relative.

    Speaking to Casefile in Lagos,  lawyer to Baba Ijesha, Mr. Adesina Ogunlana said the suspect is however still in police custody pending perfection of bail.

    He said  verification of the sureties must be done by OC Legal.  Baba Ijesha was  granted bail even while  Lagos courts are on strike.

    However the Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP has  recommended that Mr. Olanrewaju James  be charged under the  Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015:

    (1)          Section 135, Indecent Treatment of a child-  punishable by 7 years imprisonment,

    (2)          Section 137- Defilement of a Child-, punishable by life imprisonment,

    (3)          Section 261- Sexual Assault by Penetration-  punishable by life imprisonment,

    (4)          Section 262- Attempted Sexual Assault by Penetration, punishable by 14 years imprisonment and

    (5)          Section 263, Sexual Assault- punishable by 3 years imprisonment.
