Nnaji Sunday is a gentleman who is reputed for his honesty and hard work in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory and beyond was contacted based on referral to assist to fix and upgrade the accidental G-Wagon belonging to Stephen Achema,  a young man in his 40s, who seemed to have acquired for himself notoriety for reneging on contracts and agreement and bullying his business associates with thugs and bodyguards to fall into line based on his connections in the Nigeria Police Force.

He is known for name dropping commissioners of police, politicians and even AIGs, using their names to intimidate both rank and file and  high ranking policemen including other members of the security agencies, including the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corpse.  It is on record that the fear of Stephen Achema has forced a legitimate businessman in Abuja to flee the country with members of his family

Stephen Achema had contracted Nnaji Sunday on referral to work on his vehicle for a fee in millions of Naira but his decision not to demand for payment upfront became his undoing. Trouble began, shortly after delivering a very perfect job to Stephen Achema.

The auto engineer had tried all diplomatic channels in his quest to get his money, even reaching out to Acheme’s brother, Shadrack but all to no avail. He reached out to the Brekete Family,  a reality radio and television program focused on human rights.

It airs on radio and cable television, and streams online through social media platforms and Human Rights Radio 101.1 in Abuja, Nigeria.  Stephen Achema was invited to a live programme to tell his side of the story, following report of the incident.

The programme was set to take off live at a specific time but the defendant kept all, the presenter, often called consultant, the complainant and live audience waiting.

However Stephen Achema arrived the station like a cowboy in a racecourse with his bodyguards and almost knocked down physical structures including security men on duty due to the high speed with which he stormed the vicinity with his vehicle.

After so much razzmatazz, he intimidated the armed NSCDC men on duty and attempted to disarm them, the presenter of the show said after he made several pleas to Achema to redeem his debts, following the satisfactory work of  the auto engineer.

Nnaji Sunday narrates his ordeal:  I worked for Stephen Achema, called chairman, I fixed his accidented G-Wagon and I also upgraded it.   I told Stephen Achema Agba, the total money and he said I should come in one week time to collect my money. I went there and he said I should come in another one week time. I went there more than 9 times.

“During one of the visits,  his brother Shedrack told me on phone  that he will resolve the matter and that I should go to his office and that Stephen Achema will be there. I arrived the office but before Shedrack will come Stephen left.

Reacting to  the incident, Barrister Pamela Pius, the PA to the Ordinary President said Achema drove recklessly into the station and “almost pulled down our gate when he came initially to respond to the allegations, threatening to burn down our property.

“I  briefed  the Ordinary President of our station and he said we should involved the police, wondering why someone can come here and be threatening to burn down the station. So I went to Uye Police Station, which covers the area to make a formal complain  about his attitude and waited for  the Divisional Police Officer, DPO who had gone to a meeting with the Commissioner of Police.

“While there, Achema made a  call and the person on the other said give him(IPO) the phone. While waiting for the DPO, I realized that Stephen Achema was making a lot of calls, there was this particular call he made and he gave the phone to the IPO who was handling it, SP Akande, and all the SP was saying is Yes Sir, Yes Sir, Yes Sir.

“I got curious, and when he gave the phone back to the Stephen, Stephen now told him,  the DPO is there with you in the command. So, I said who is he calling, and he said Area Commander, Maitama. I was told he is the ACP Nurudeen Sabo. I don’t know if he is in his payroll. I heard the conversation in flesh and blood.

“After all he said the Area Commander asked him to come back to the police station and find out what was happening.  He came and I explained to him how he drove into the premises like a car race and the gate man said he can’t park here, so he gave the key to another person to repark his red G-Wagon.

“On getting closer to our cameramen at the station, he fled up. The DPO now asked our cameraman to write our statement. The DPO asked that he be captured but he refused to be captured behind the counter.  The DPO came to the counter and told him to calm down and cooperate and then he threatened to sack the DPO and to pull his uniform, while he was behind the counter in the DPO’s station, in front of all the policemen in the station. He threatened that we have bribed the DPO.

“The CP called the DPO and said that the case be transferred to the Area Command. Uye is the Police Station that covered the area”, he said.
