The People Democratic Party(PDP) has condemned in strong terms a statement issued by the Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN) seeking to drag the name of President Goodluck Jonathan into the shameful fracas between lawmakers in the Rivers State House of Assembly. Trade Union Congress (TUC) has called on the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar to dismiss the police orderly attached to the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi for taking side in an issue involving members of the State House of Assembly and physically assaulting a lawmaker. Fitch Ratings, a rating agency for financial institutions has affirmed the Long-term Issuer Default Ratings (IDR) of eight Nigerian banks while on of them was downgraded by the organisation. The eight banks affected with the affirmation are Zenith Bank, First Bank, United Bank for Africa, Guaranty Trust Bank, Access Bank Plc, Diamond Bank, Fidelity Bank and Stanbic IBTC Bank. Union Bank stood out as the Nigerian bank downgraded from the Long-term IDR. The Nigerian Football Authority (NFA) has suspended four top clubs for reporting results that seems to be nothing but outright falsehood from playoff matches. Plateau United Feeders and Police Machine Football Club, needed convincing win to earn a place to the national league but officials rejected the score line of 79 – 0 and 67 – 0 respectively. The Lagos State Water Corporation has announced that there will be temporary disruption of water supply in some parts of Lagos between Wednesday July 10 and Thursday July 11. The Group Managing Director, Engr.Shayo Holloway, stated that the disruption is due to on-going rehabilitation works at Iju intake and headworks.
