The 2013 Annual Conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses will kick off this month in Lagos and Ogun State. A statement from the convention committee signed by Mr. Paul Baba, spokesman for the 2013 Convention series said the theme of the three-day convention is “God’s Word is Truth”. Not less than N36billion is spent annually on putting parties together by residents of Lagos State, while another 14.4 billion is spent on aso-ebi , bringing the total money spent on parties to N50.4 billion. Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola has called on labour unions not to oppose plans by the National Assembly to decentralize determination of minimum wage. He gave the advice while inaugurating the South West Zonal office of the National Pensions Commission (NPC) in Ikeja.
