PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria – The Rivers State Elders and Leaders Forum has described as unacceptable attempt to impeach the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Seminalaye Fubara barely six months into office without explaining his offence and infraction on the laws of the land to the people of the state.
The elders made their observation known in a communique after an emergency meeting of the association in Rivers State.
In the communique signed by Chief Rufus Ada George, Emeritus Professor Dagogo Fubara and twelve others, the group said neither Fubara, nor the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike responded to their letters.
The forum condemned the already written judgement by Justice Donatus Okorowo of the Federal High Court Abuja, Court 8 filed by the pro-Wike Lawmakers to stop the declaration of their seat vacant( a move already done), to secure the backing of the DSS to embark on illegal impeachment exercise on the governor.
The group called on President Bola Tinubu to consolidate on his earlier intervention, stressing that consequence of his inaction may not only affect Rivers State, the Niger Delta and the Federal Government.
