ABUJA, Nigeria – The Presidential Electoral Tribunal sitting in Abuja today declared President Muhammadu Buhari as  validly elected  in the 2019 general election.

The Justice Mohammed Garba-led five-member panel struck out most of the grounds upon which the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is seeking to be declared as the validly elected person.

Most of the points canvassed by Atiku and PDP through their lawyers bothering on electronic  transmission of result and use of card readers were struck out by the tribunal for violating provisions of the electoral act as ammended.

On allegations that the police and military personnel rigged the elections, the judge ruled that the principle of no vicarious liability in the realms of criminal law, holds adding that anybody who contravenes the law must carry his own cross. Accordingly,  the learnered judge,  ruled that the court cannot adjudicate on the matter without prior hearing from the accused.

All decisions arrived at by the judge was unanimous.
