ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines Company Limited Prof Obiora Okonkwo has described the presidential candidate of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as pan Nigerian and unifier .
Okonkwo who represented the Vice presidential candidate of PDP Ifeanyi Okowa at the 2022 Onitsha Ofala festival and spoke to journalists on the sideline said Atiku had built many bridges across Nigeria and remain the best to occupy the position of the president of Nigeria.
Okonkwo who also is a chieftain of PDP expressed the confidence that the party will win the 2023 election. He urged Ndi Anambra to join hands and vote PDP in 2023 in order to reconnect to national politics.
“Atiku is a pan Nigerian who has build bridges and a proudly northerner. There is no presidential candidate anywhere in the world who will address his people and asked them to vote for another person or tribe. If that is the way to play politics, good luck to a presidential candidate who tell his people not vote for him.
We are following Atiku because we knew he has all it takes to reunite this country. PDP is not just a party but an institution that has come to last since 1999. The party has survived the All Progressive Congress APC misruled of eight years and we are still moving stronger ” he said.
Okonkwo said that the victory of Atiku is inevitable, and urged the Anambra people to join because it is for their good. According to him, the only wire that can connect Anambra to the national is PDP and no other Party.
According to him, there are enough reasons for Ndi Anambra to vote for PDP and support Atiku, noting that Anambra people had always supported PDP in previous national elections .
On the issues of Obident, he said that people will always have their choice in democratic space and he does not have any problem one making his or her choice. He said that despite all Anambra people will still vote PDP as they have done severally.
“Anambra state is opened to multi political interest and the majority will always win . Anambra has given PDP over 80 percent in national elections and I hope it will still repeat itself ” he said .
Okonkwo also hinted that the campaign committee of PDP will campaign in every ward and local government of Anambra State to curry votes.
“PDP is prepared , Anambra is PDP, we have won in the past all through in presidential election, landslide. We have won the majority in the national assembly, I don’t think this will be different. I have no doubt that Anambra people know that they have to reconnect to Abuja and the only wire to reconnect us PDP” he said .
