NASARAWA, Nigeria – The level of insecurity in Nigeria has risen to such an alarming level that the convoy of the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe became the focus of attack on Tuesday. Not less than 4 people in the convoy were killed, among them three policemen.
Deputy Governor Akabe was attacked few kilometres from Akwanga at about 6 PM on his way to Abuja for an official engagement.
Police Public Relations Officer in Nasarawa, ASP Usman Samaila who confirmed the incident did not provide details of the accident.
All he said was that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Bola Longe has led a team of officers to the scene to assess the situation.
“As I speak with you now, the Commissioner of Police, the Deputy Commissioner Operations and other high ranking officers of the command have gone to the scene of the incident,” Samaila said.
Nothing happened to the deputy governor but he was visably shaken. He did not speak to journalists on the incident.
