The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has suspended Imo State Governor, Mr. Rochas Okorocha from the party just few days after the registration of All Progressive Congress (APC) by INEC, for gross anti-party activities, following his involvement with APC.
APGA announced the suspension via a communiqué after an emergency meeting by the National Executive Council in Abuja.
The party also resolved to dissolve the executive committee of the APGA in Imo State with immediate effect and appoint a 21-member caretaker committee to oversee affairs of the party.
The communiqué signed by Chairman APGA Southwest, Alhaji Tayo Sowunmi explained that the governor was suspended for anti-party activities by flirting with the APC.
“The NEC unanimously resolved to suspend with immediate effect the governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha from the party, for gross anti-party activities, bordering on his involvement with the newly registered All Progressives Congress (APC) contrary to the clear provisions of the APGA constitution. The NEC also unanimously resolved to dissolve the Imo State executive committee of APGA with immediate effect. Twenty-one man caretaker committee shall be appointed to run the affairs of the party in Imo pending the conduct of state congress.”
