Residents vow to vote massively for APGA

Maduako Igbokwe I Wednesday, January 11, 2023

UMUAHIA, Abia, Nigeria – The campaign train of the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA governorship candidate in Abia state Prof Gregory Ibe and others  have  toured and visited  all the seven wards in Obingwa Local Government Council of the state.

The wards are  1,2,3,4,5,6 and 9. The grassroots mobilisation and visits ended in glory on January 10, 2023 as  the residents expressed hope about  Ibe and APGA’s victory.

Speaking at the end of ward to ward  mobilisation and tour, the  APGA candidate for Obingwa West State Constituency, Hon. Chibuike Nwosu  assured  the people of Obingwa West of victory at the polls  and promised to empower them  for productivity.

Nwosu  said he was confident of  defeating Chief Erondu Jnr and others  at the polls, because he has the capacity  and character to deliver. He also  accused his opponent, Chief Erondu of  doing empowerment for  the people with the people’s money, noting that whatever he give them belong to them.

“I am going for  quality and  proper representation, if elected. I am a better candidate to represent the good people of Obingwa than any other person” he said.

He used the opportunity to inform the people about  bags of fertilizer, which Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe had given them willingly,  saying that he will soon  move from one ward to another and   share the bags of fertilizer. He expressed his readiness to continue   to empower his people again and again as long as he is alive.

“You people shouldn’t be afraid, because I have the capacity to defeat Erondu jnr, when the time comes. Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe is my political father, and I am proud to associate myself with him, for he is a fearless man, always ready to defend Ndigbo. He had distributed many bags of fertilizer to different local government areas in Abia South. The bags of fertilizer he gave to Obingwa West are in my custody. Very soon, I shall visit the wards to share the fertilizer, and I shall give out other gifts too” he said .

He appealed to his people to vote for Prof. Greg Ibe, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Hon. Solomon Adaelu and Chibuike Nwosu for the good of the state. He however  decried the selling of PVCs to politicians by some people, an act he described  as unnecessary.

According to him, “I heard some people have exchanged their PVCs for money. The act is not only unnecessary, but uncivil. Your PVCs are your weapons and should be kept in safe corners. Once I am voted into power to represent the people of Obingwa West State Constituency at the Abia Assembly, I will protect the interest of the people without compromise.”

Speaking also, Hon. Uwaoma Olewengwa told the people of Obingwa that she was among the people who had insisted that an Ngwa man must govern Abia, but the  monumental failures and poor performances of  Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu was a minus.

“I am highly disappointed by  Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu’s poor performance in office as a governor” she said.

Commenting on the state of affairs in Abia, the former Abia state commissioner  said  the people of  Abia state are suffering and smiling under Ikpeazu government. She urged   the people of Obingwa West to be courageous, focus and determine to vote APGA for their good, stating that power belongs to the people and they most use their power right.

“Go out there   convince people on  why they should vote for Prof. Greg Ibe and Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe and others . We have our brother as governor, he disappointed us , nothing to show for his eight year of administration.  I am confident that 2023 election will end with praise  in favour of APGA and the masses.

“I was among the people who had agitated that an Ngwa man should govern Abia. We fought for some years to defend the interest of Ukwa/ Ngwa,  and we succeeded in 2015 when Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu became a Governor.

We all had rejoiced over the victory, but, unfortunately, his poor performance in office has made him a failure. Since an Ngwa man couldn’t better the lives of Abians, then there is need for us to give Prof. Greg Ibe the opportunity to rule. Of course, I know he will do better, if he becomes the governor of Abia State, “she said

Hon. Uwaoma commended  Prof. Greg Ibe for his philanthropic/ humanitarian works to the people of Abia state done without discrimination. She also disclosed   that up to thirty indigenes of Obingwa are under Prof. Greg Ibe’s scholarship.

She  also advised the people not to go home after casting their votes, saying that February 25 election will pave the way for Prof. Greg Ibe’s victory in March.

“Prof. Greg Ibe’s university is of international standard and their tuition fees are on the high side. Still, he gave scholarship to Abians, just to fight against poverty so as to mould the future of the growing generation. Since he has the mind to change lives positively through many ways, the possibility of changing Abia, if elected, is there. So, we must vote for him, if we want to change  the narrative of Abia.

“On the 25th of February, we must all come out with our PVCs and vote for Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe. Don’t leave your polling units after casting your votes. Rather, you have to stay there and watch over our agents to avoid any form of manipulation by other agents, which  could cost us our victory.” She stated.

Also speaking, the State Chairman of APGA Rev. Augustine Ehiemere  expressed  optimism that APGA’s time to govern Abia has come.

“It is obvious that the said time for APGA to govern Abia has come. And there are signs to prove that the time has truly come. The first sign has to do with Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe’s defection to APGA. initially, he was a member of the PDP, but for him to have defected to APGA shows that God’s time has come. Second, we were looking for a David of Abia, and four outstanding personalities showed interest. After the governorship primary election, Prof. Greg Ibe emerged winner, and he is now the governorship flag bearer of the party, which, also, is a sign. The third sign that came was the resignation of Hon. Uwaoma Olewengwa and her defection to APGA. In truth, God has remembered Abia, and it is time for the people who have really laboured for the party to reap the fruits of their labour, because Prof. Greg Ibe will surely govern Abia State,”Augustine Ehiemere said .

According to him, Prof. Greg Ibe is a Consultant to some foreign countries, including the UN and his experience and exposure are what we need to build Abia state. He said that in all ramifications

Prof. Greg Ibe has the capacity and character to change the narrative of Abia  State for better. He also told  the people of Obingwa West that Abia YPP is the same as Abia PDP, noting any voting YPP is voting PDP.

“A vote for Abia YPP is a vote  for Abia PDP, because they are one and the same. It is on record that some of the roads the YPP governorship candidate had constructed have collapsed. As for Prof. Uche Ikonne of PDP, he could not  manage Abia State Polytechnic when he was there as a Rector, and even as the Vice Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu he could not  prove himself to be a good administrator. Such a man cannot govern Abia, in fact. Moreover, his candidacy is an encouragement to godfatherism and Abians do not need a man who is tied to the apron strings of the governor.

Prof. Greg Ibe is the only governorship candidate in Abia who has no skeleton in his cupboard and we vote for him for Abia liberation” he stated.

Earlier in his remark, the State Chairman recognized the presence of Ugoeze Adanma Ikpeazu, the wife of HRH Eze Friday Ikpeazu.

In attendance were: the State Chairman, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere, the State Woman Leader, Mrs. Onyekwere, Ugwunagbo Stakeholders’ Chairman, Mr. Okechukwu, APGA candidate for Obingwa East State Constituency, Ngozi Mbonu, APGA candidate for Obingwa West State Constituency, Chibuike Nwosu, APGA LGA Chairman for Obingwa, Joshua Chidiebere, Obingwa Woman Leader, Mrs. Peace Ugorji, State Working Committee member representing Obingwa, Engr. Chika Alozie, PGI Campaign Council Youth Leader, Michael Okorie, and the Chairman of APGA Stakeholders in Obingwa.
