ANAMBRA, Nigeria – Former presidential aide to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Senator Andy has commenced tour of 21 local government area of Anambra State to curry supports for his governorship ambition.
According to a statement issued by Director General of his Campaign Organization, Hon. Paul Chukwuma, the tour is for him to meet with leadership of the party at the local government level and to sell his candidature to them.
Andy Uba is seeking to be the governor of the state on the platform of All Progressive Congress APC in the November 6, Anambra state governorship election. According to the statement, Uba is putting finishing touches to the ward local government tour to enable him reach-out to the stakeholders in the state .
Chukwuma said that the aim of the tour was to connect with the grassroots at the wards and local government levels, describing the move as a strategic plan adopted by the campaign organization to reach out to the people .
” These are the people who will vote, these are the people who represent the party at the ward and local government levels, these are the people who have held the fort all these while, they are the springboard of our grassroots strategy not only now, but in the forthcoming elections” he said .
According to Chukwuma, the tour was also designed to enlighten the stakeholders on Uba qualities and programmes for the party and the state . He also said the tour will also afforded the aspirant and his team the opportunity to see the level of underdevelopment in the state as such experience would enable him to go back to his drawing board and see how such un-development can be tackled within his first four years in office .
He also described Senator Uba as the best person to pickup the party’s ticket in the forthcoming APC primary. “In terms of experience, reach-out, financial standing and popularity, Uba is there and all the APC needed now was to give him the ticket for him to win the governorship election for the party ” he said .
He said that Uba in one of the meetings urged the local officers to put an end to the many struggles to win the gubernatorial election in the state by giving him the party’s ticket .
