MAKURDI, Benue – The Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia, has approved an Interim Management Committee (IMC) to take over the affairs of Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi.
The move, announced on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, signals the beginning of a major restructuring effort for the former Nigerian Premier League champions.
The newly constituted team is tasked with managing the club pending a full and proper re-organization.
Leading the committee as Chairman is Terver Ikya.
He will work alongside a team of officials, including:
Uja Emmanuel – Media Director
Harry Yachi – Technical Director
Terzungwe Chugh – Admin/Board Secretary (Ministry of Sports)
Barr Owocho Adejoh Ogiri – Member
Immediate Task: NNL Registration and Promotion Mandate
The IMC has been handed an immediate and critical directive: to register the club for the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) football season.
This directive underscores the Governor’s primary goal for the club: a swift return to Nigeria’s top flight. Lobi Stars was recently relegated, making the new committee’s key objective the promotion back to the Premier League.
In a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, mnipr, Governor Alia issued a stern warning against distractions. He urged all committee members to work together cohesively to achieve success and ensure the club’s immediate return to top-flight football.
The interim arrangement is expected to stabilize the club’s administration and operations as the state government plans a comprehensive, long-term restructuring strategy for the Makurdi-based side.
