Abia Warriors Re-dedicates Self to God Ahead of League Game

March 4, 2015 – Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia has been rededicated itself to God in readiness for the 2014/2015 Nigeria Professional Football League season which gets underway this weekend.

The dedication service, which is now an annual ritual, took place at the Umuahia Township stadium and was attended by members of the club’s Board, Management, Staff, Technical Crew and Players.

In his speech at the occasion, club chairman, Chief Emeka Inyama said the dedication service which holds before the start of every football season is used to honour God for His mercies which saw the team complete the previous season unhindered.

Chief Inyama, who stated that Abia Warriors rely on God alone for all its businesses, reminded the players, officials and Management of the need to continue to work as one family in order to achieve maximum result.

According to him, Abia Warriors is welfare-oriented as could be attested to by members of the team, pointing out that lots of measures have been put in place to assist the players achieve their aim in life and urged them to seize the opportunity with both hands.

Earlier in his exhortations, the organiser of the re-dedication service, Pastor Osoka Okorie thanked God for preserving the team last season and prayed that the favour be extended to the team in the forth-coming season.

He charged the players to maintain discipline on and off the pitch and as much as possible obey camp rules. Barrister Pastor Johnny Precious Ogba who preached on the topic, “Examine Yourself”, urged the players to carry out individual assessment of self to verify whether they were prepared for the season or not with a view to correcting areas of need.

Pastor Precious Ogba who told the players that they could succeed only when they have a good relationship with the almighty God, predicted that with the rededication service, the club, which he noted left an impression in its first Premier League season, will become the cynosure of all eyes once again.

Highlight of the occasion were prayers for the players, officials, Management and staff as well as the renewed of the covenant with God and dedication of the Umuahia Township Stadium pitch, home ground of the Warriors.
